Let’s also not forget that Shenmue III has been through a fair amount of controversy leading up to its release. Waiting for almost 20 years is plenty of time for players to cool down and lose interest in the series. The phrase “strike while the iron is hot” exists for a reason. The first is that the game series is so old, it may have lost many of its fans. This means that a “Character Perspective System” will be added to the final project. Something else interesting of note is that the current funds for Shenmue 3 have reached over $5,000,000. A lthough this offer only applies to four generous people and the project is only active on Kickstarter for about 32 more hours, so better make up your mind quickly. Sadly, they did clarify that these NPCs would definitely not have a fight scene with the protagonist Ryo. If you have some money to burn and always wanted to be in a video game, this might be your chance. The new backer opportunity is that for donating $6,000 the backer will appear in the game as an NPC, specifically at the Choubu Inn. Although these are just scenes that are still in development, the post states that “Yu Suzuki has sent it with loving care and hopes it will be all that the fans of the series have come to love, and will show those new to the game some of the wonder and magic they can expect from the continually unfolding world of Shenmue.” The trailer, safe to say, looks absolutely gorgeous for a short, 38-second trailer.
